About Us
I've been a crafter for as long as I can remember. I started creating things (3D paper tole art, painting, cross stitch, stamping) and taking them to my work to show to my co-workers. They liked my "stuff" and actually paid me money for my hobbies!! As most crafters do, I filled totes, dressers and eventually rooms with crafts and crafting supplies. In 1996, I started making candles to add to my collection and decided to start my own business doing candle and home decor parties and craft shows. I eventually went from full-time to part-time work as a school secretary and from a crafter to a part-time business owner. By 2001, I had outgrown my home based business and opened my first store in Sebringville with the help of my sister-in-law Trina.
Within a couple of years, with the addition of a website and the sale of craft supplies, the little basement store was busting at the seams. We packed up and moved to Water Street, St. Marys, alongside a well established craft store, fabric store and scrapbooking studio - a crafters paradise!!
While I was on vacation in 2002, Trina talked our friend Shelly into helping with odd jobs for the week. She never left, and then there were three. Along the way, we have grown, and added more friends - like Leanne and Dianna - to the staff, and our roots remain strong. We are dedicated to helping crafters, we love what we do, and I'd like to think it shows! We have a lot of fun. The guaranteed quality of our products and first hand knowledge is a direct result of starting the company from scratch.
In 2003, we moved the store to the original Timothy Eaton's location on Queen Street and opened a warehouse for the on-line business. Our store is full of candles and crafts to inspire, wall art to decorate, and humorous items to amuse. Please stop by if you are travelling our way. CanPar runs daily from the warehouse, delivering across Canada and abroad.
Crafters agree that candle making is one of the most relaxing hobbies they have tried. Consider candle making as a possible small business. Our graduated pricing allows you to be creative and profitable at the same time.
Gift basket or home party businesses are also welcome to apply for our wholesale pricing on finished candles. Quaint shops, tearooms and the like are a wonderful fit for our products.
